The stresses of people’s jobs can often make them try to find ways to cope. Unfortunately, some individuals may feel the need to turn to alcohol or other substances to help them deal with the difficulties they face because of work or other life issues. In such cases, it is not uncommon for those parties to face charges for drunk driving at some point.
According to reports, a semi-truck driver was recently arrested in Texas on DWI charges. Apparently, the man was driving a truck that had out-of-state license plates on Highway 75. While on the highway, the man’s semi-truck was involved in an accident with another semi-truck after the man attempted to pass the other truck.
Details regarding the situation include the following:
- The man’s trailer struck the passenger side of the other truck.
- The man’s semi had reportedly already hit an SUV before colliding with the other semi.
- The man participated in field sobriety tests and reportedly did not pass.
- He was taken into custody on charges of DWI.
Truck drivers are known to have stressful and isolating careers, and it is not unusual for alcohol abuse issues to arise in individuals in this occupation. Unfortunately for this man, he will now have to contend with the drunk driving charge he currently faces. Because he may be from out of state, it may be worthwhile for him to gain information on how DWI charges are handled in Texas and what he could expect as his case moves forward. Utilizing local legal resources for that information may be prudent.
