Driving around the greater Austin Metro can be dangerous any time of the day, but driving in the early morning hours sometimes increases the risk of being involved in an accident. This was made evident recently in a multi-vehicle accident on I-35. The accident left one person dead and two others suffering injures.
Details of the crash
Reports did not provide a lot of details concerning the crash, but they did say the accident happened around 4:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 11. The accident occurred in Round Rock in the southbound lanes near North SH 45/Louis Henna Boulevard and Hesters Crossing. Authorities closed that area for several hours as they cleaned up the crash site and investigated the accident.
Reportedly, the crash involved at least three vehicles, which included a semi-truck. One person was killed in the crash, and two others suffered injuries of unspecified severity. The report did not mention which vehicles the victims were riding in, nor did it state who may have caused the accident. Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash.
Legal options for victims
Pending the authorities’ finding on who caused the accident, those injured reserve the right to pursue personal injury claims against those responsible in an effort to recover damages. If the decedent caused the crash, his or her estate can be named in a civil lawsuit by those injured. If the decedent was one of the innocent victims of another driver’s negligence, his or her surviving family members can pursue wrongful death claims against the driver deemed at fault to pursue recovery of funeral costs and other documented damages. In any case, those seeking compensation would need to work with an experienced personal injury attorney to increase their chances of obtaining a successful outcome.
